During the soft launch of the SSDB project, the children were read the book “The Giving Tree_” by _Shel SilverStein and learnt about the greatness of giving. To encourage them to put their learning into action, a small scale donation drive was set up in school for children to donate their pre-loved books or toys to other children who do not have access to these items. A note was pasted in their communication books before the June holidays and many of them started bringing their pre-loved items to school right from the first day of school in Term 3.
At the end of the donation drive, we brought the K1 morning session children to the Motor Skills Development room to sort out the items and count them.
We collected a total of 47 soft toys, 65 other toys and 191 books! Well done children!
After the Family Sports Day, which marked the end of our SSDB Project, the teachers brought the donated items to The Salvation Army.
It was a great opportunity to give, not only for the children, but also for the teachers.
