As we take part in the President’s Challenge, Start Small Dream Big 2019, we have decided to come up with the title “Recyclables 1, 2, 3”. This is our initiative to repurpose and reuse of recyclable materials, learn about water conservation and waste management strategies.
To kickstart the project, children and parents were encouraged to bring 1.5L empty plastic bottles. The teachers transformed the plastic bottles into a self-watering plant pot by cutting it into halves and making a hole for the yarn into the bottle cap. Soon after, the children started to decorate their plastic bottles.
The children scooped potting mix in their plastic containers to have it ready for planting.
They gently pressed the seedling into the soil and ensured that their seedling is planted upright.
The children regularly maintains the appropriate water level for their self-watering plant pot and fills it up if necessary.
