Children were highly anticipating for their Zumba Fitness Fun session with the elderly. They all gathered at COMNET Senior Activity Centre and put on their SSDB hat for another delightful music and movement experience.
The Zumba was headed by the elderly and the dance choreography was broken into kid and elderly friendly routines. To begin with, they performed some warm – up exercises and followed by exhilarating body movements.
The children were very well engaged during the activity. They attentively listened to the instructions and did their best to imitate the actions shown by the Zumba instructor. The elderly were very approachable and helpful. They provided children with assistance especially those who were struggling to perform specific actions.
Giving children an outlet to jump, shake and swing their hips is the perfect recipe for fitness fun. Not only does it improve body coordination, endurance, gross motor skills but also it develops the values of team work, patience, respect, creativity and self – esteem in the children.
The Zumba session provided children and elderly with a grand opportunity to develop trusting relationships with each other and also provided them with quality interaction time.
