The children of Y.W.C.A Preschool Ltd @ West Coast had their SSDB launch project titled “Amazing Khansa” on 28th of April 2023. We brought the children out for an ‘Orangutan’ parade around the neighbourhood. Children get to explore the different movements of ‘Orangutan’ during the parade. The parents also dressed their children up like ‘Orangutans’ by putting on face masks and clothings made from recycled materials.
Mandai Wildlife Reserve @ Singapore Zoo commemorates its’ 50th anniversary this year. Therefore, this project encourages preschools to virtually adopt an animal. This year we will be focusing on rainforests and sustainability. Hence, we have adopted a rainforest animal ‘Our dear Khansa’ the Orangutan. Our project will allow children to connect with Khansa and share in depth knowledge about Orangutan’s, especially Khansa.
We will be organising various activities and a school carnival for parents to get involved with their children in activities such as storytelling conducted by the parents, games and art and craft activities with parents, to discover their talents and interest about Orang Utan. Most importantly, we aim to raise awareness by sharing conservation messages about adopted animal with family, friends and the community.
Let’s celebrate Khansa the orangutan together!
