Our centre commemorated World Water Day and Earth Hour in the month of March this year. The children were introduced to the impact of saving water and saving the earth through variety of means and strategies. The children were cooperative and participative in using rationed amount of water for the day. Each class were given limited access to water as all the pipes in the centre were sealed. The children had to count the number of pails of water that they used for the day. The children also had limited access to lights for half of the day and we switched off the air conditioner for an hour (opening the windows and switching on all the fans for ventilation) to commemorate Earth Hour. They depended on the natural lighting that came through the centre windows. They also did come out with their own slogans such as Saving Water, Save the Earth, Conserve Energy and created posters which was later distributed to the members of the public as a form of spreading awareness.
