They say time flies when you are having fun. True indeed! The little gardeners were so delighted to find out from Atok Naim, the community gardener on Tuesday that their kangkung plants were ready to be harvested! It was such a perfect timing as Wednesdays are our SSDB-day, where the teachers and the little gardeners will spend the mornings to be engaged with SSDB-related activities. And spontaneously, the teachers agreed with the little gardeners’ ideas on harvesting the kangkong plants and cooking it the next day.
Atok Naim demonstrated to the little gardeners on how to harvest the plants. It was very easy!
After cleaning the kangkong vegetables with salt and water, the little gardeners were ready to cook! They were told to use their 5 senses to observe the vegetables before being cooked and to look out for the differences after that.
Much to the teachers’ surprise, the little gardeners actually enjoyed the kangkong stir-fry dish! In fact, they asked for a 2nd helping!
Should the little gardeners plant kangkong again so that they can harvest them, just in time for SSDB Closing Ceremony? Hmm..
(Note: Proper hygiene such as washing of hands and wiping of surfaces was in place when handling with food.)
