Teachers and children of PCF Sparkletots Preschool @ Sengkang Central Blk 270 embarked on a project, “Caring is for everyone.” We wanted to raise awareness and at the same time inculcate the value of care to the children.
For the SSDB soft launch, the children learnt about how they could care for the people around them in the community and how they can be socially responsible. They agreed that keeping their hands clean is one of the few ways that they can help care and keep the community safe.
For a start, the teachers conducted a simple hands on activity where the children were each given gloves and paint which acts like a ‘soap’ or hand sanitizers. They learnt that following the 8 steps of handwashing is effective at keeping Germs away.
Following that, they read a book to learn about kindness and care in community. They identified the acts of kindness and care that is shown in the book. The children brainstormed ways that they can show care and illustrated them in a simple poster.
