In this revision week, the K1 children explored and discussed about the importance of the 3Rs – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. They recapped and identified the significant differences between the 3Rs and demonstrated what it meant to reduce, reuse and recycle.
During discussion, the children were encouraged to think about the use of plastic, a large contributor to waste. Through educational videos and storybooks, the children were introduced to the negative effects of plastic on the environment such as plastic pollution.
As an effort to learn ways to reduce waste and upcycle plastic, the children were engaged in a craft activity where they learnt how to make flowers out of recycled plastic bags.
“I already tied the middle with a rubber band. Now, I can pull the plastic out layer by layer.” ~Abby
“Look at our craft! We created a flower craft using unused plastic bag! We have done our part to apply the 3Rs in our daily lives!”
