May’s session focused around the theme “Trip Down the Memory Lane”. During last month’s session, the children interviewed their grandparents. For this month’s session, the children conducted the same interview with the elderlies over at St. Luke’s.
To begin the session, the elderlies over at St. Luke’s Eldercare told the children a story, one in English and another in Mandarin.
The same questionnaire that was given to the children’s grandparents were also sent to the elderlies at St. Luke’s Eldercare.
Children representatives were tasked to interview the elderlies about their lives when they were 5/6 years old. From where they lived to their favourite games to favourite stories.
The elderlies shared some interesting responses with the children. The children were especially interested by the story of the uncle catching cockroaches to feed his chickens when he was young.
Many of the children were able to share and draw similarities to the responses from their grandparents and that of the St. Luke’s elderlies.
Much like how the elderlies enjoyed sharing the stories of their childhood, the children enjoyed listening and sharing how it differs from their own lives now.
We look forward to sharing more of our journey with you as we promote stronger connections between generations! :))
