We embarked on our SSDB Project with an aim to bring daily necessities to the elders from St. Lukes Eldercare @ Rivervale. There were 4 parts to this project. See below for more of our children’s journey!
Part 1: Designing the Recycling Bags
The K1 & K2 children worked to design unique tote bags for our elders to use as part of efforts in Reducing Waste and Recycling.
Part 2: Shopping for our Elders
After designing their bags, the children brought home their bags for a shopping trip with their parents. The children had a list of items to shop for the elders. These items include daily necessities such as toothpaste, cotton bud, and soap.
Part 3: The Trip to St. Luke’s Eldercare@Rivervale
We took some children and teachers to present the bags to the elders. The elders from St. Luke’s Eldercare were so happy to receive the bags from the children. We had a Parent Volunteer who came along on the trip!
Part 4: Environmental Talk by NEA
To end off this Project, the children had a talk about 3Rs and Food Waste Reduction. This was a partnership with NEA. The children gained some insights to why Recycling is always important.
It was a fulfilling and enriching project for the children and teachers. 😄
