For this year’s SSDB theme, it is to strengthen our society by maintaining social connections with the community and being inclusive. We believe it is never too young to inculcate these values in our children. Despite the Covid pandemic, children will connect with the community virtually online with Swami Home. To kickstart our project, we collaborated with the children’s parents for this activity. Parent involvement helps extend teaching outside the classroom which creates a more positive experience for children and helps children perform better when they are in school. Through this activity, we would like to educate children and express children’s appreciation towards the elders. Children created a “Thank you” card alongside with their parents. Children came back to school with the “Thank you” card and shared the different reasons why they wanted to thank the elderly. As some of the children are being cared by their grandparents, they used their prior knowledge and experiences to share their views with peers.
