Provocation: With the knowledge that Planet Earth is sick, we discussed ways in which we can be superheroes caring for the environment.
“Use food to make compost.” -Kyomie Krist, K2
One of our K2’s suggested we make compost. But what is compost?
Looking through some books we borrowed from the National Library, we gathered information about what compost is and how to make a compost.
With this knowledge, we decided to make compost in the bottle. We began by writing about what we have learnt about composting, and drawing different layers needed.
First, we went to find materials for the different layers of compost before putting them in a bottle. We even found a worm while digging and thought that it will help with the composting process!
Our journey continued with observations over a couple of weeks. Here’s what our children noticed:
Even our younger classes at a hand at composting!
