Our theme for our SSDB project was ‘Doing Good Together’ where we looked at the importance of preschool-families-community collaborations.
The N2 and K1 children visited the THK Ageing Centre where they will be interacting and spending time with the seniors there. This is to inculcate the values of showing care and concern for the people around them in our children.
To encourage the children to give back to the society, the school ran a donation drive asking for some necessitities for the seniors. We are so thankful to receive generous support from our parents. The children were then invited to sort out the blessings we received before working together to pack them into goodie bags for the seniors.
On the day of the visit, the children performed 3 English items and 3 Chinese items for the seniors.
Thereafter, we had a drawing session where the seniors and the children worked together to decorate their canvas bags. We observed children interacting with the seniors like asking simple questions like ‘What do you like?, What do you want to draw?’
At the end of the day, the children shared that they enjoyed the time spent with the seniors at the THK Active Ageing Centre very much.
