In partnership with AIC- Singapore, the children embarked on planting edible greens for the seniors at Econ Medicare Centre (Chai Chee). Aligned with the theme of our SSDB project - ‘A Grateful heart For Our Family and Community’, we created planting kits to take home. This fosters collaborations with families in growing these seeds and contributing to society by sharing them with the seniors at the centre.
Moreover, the children filmed a video and instructional manual on growing a seed. They had demonstrated the steps in caring for a seed through a recording as well as pictorial representation. The video also incorporated performances from the N2-K2 children.
COVID-19 has affected our lives and it is through adversities that we want to cultivate a heart of thanksgiving and compassion towards the people in our community. This provided children with opportunities to develop empathy as we express our appreciation to others. The seniors at the centre were also elated to receive the plants grown by the children and their families. The root of joy is gratefulness!
