It is the second year that the children are embarking on another exciting journey with the Start Small Dream Big project. The Kindergarten One children in The Little Skool-House At-Downtown-East have volunteered in the neighbourhood Resident Network Garden since the start of the year. The children have been exposed to various gardening methods, connecting them with nature and telling them knowledge about plants.
Recently, the children have shown interest in growing different edibles in the garden. Therefore, this year we are focusing on the theme, from Garden to Table, where the children are introduced to growing their food in a garden. Through this project, we want to share the importance of freshly sourced food, self-sufficiency and sustainability.
During this process, the children will be exposed to deciding on the edibles to grow, experimenting with different growing methods, observing and documenting the edibles’ growth and eventually
harvesting it before preparing it at their peak.
We look forward to growing our edibles, harvesting, eating them, and sharing our journey with everyone else.
