ZBK is into its second year of participation in the SSDB project. This year, our title for the SSDB is “TWO HANDS. ONE HEART.” We hope to encourage inter-generational bonding between the children and their grandparents as well as with the elderly residents in the community.
The parents and children will be visiting “Golden Jasmine” in the vicinity where they will be interacting with the elderly residents through music and movement activities. The parents and children will be packing mini hampers of donated items to be given to the elderly residents at “Golden Jasmine”. With the help of parent volunteers, the children will also be making musical instruments using reusable materials.
The children will also be inviting their grandparents to our ”Grandparents Appreciation Day” for a time of bonding through playing of traditional games and tea season.
Through this SSDB Project, we hope to inculcate in the children values of caring and sharing towards the elderly.
OUR JOURNEY BEGINS ……………………………..
5 APRIL 2018 - The day before SSDB Launch Party…
The children put their hands together to help decorate the room for the Launch Party the next day.
6 APRIL 2018 - The much awaited SSDB Launch Party at ZBK has finally arrived! Both the parents and children were excited to be part of this year’s launch.
The response from the parents for the launch party was overwhelming. Our principal Mrs Tan and the K1 teacher Mrs Chang briefed the parents on the objectives of SSDB and the projects which the children will be involved in.
The children from K1 Peace 1 and K1 Faith 1 & 2 classes did a splendid performance with the rendition of two songs, ”This Heart. These Hands” and ”让爱传出去”.
Finally, the SSDB Launch Party ended with a Tea Reception lovingly prepared by the K1 teachers.
The best part of the launch party……the tea reception…….much loved by both the young and old.
