For this year’s SSDB project, our school aims to show care to “Our Family, Our Community” by embarking on an upcycling Earth Day project, Plan(t) the Future.
The children started by reflecting on the importance of recycling and how we are working towards our vision of a “Zero Waste Nation” through reducing, reusing and recycling sustainably.
The children raised funds by preparing a virtual live concert and sale of upcycled craft works under our
Earth Day project, Plan(t) the Future. Our families were encouraged to collect recycled materials from their homes and bringing it to school. With the recycled materials, the children made coin boxes, hanging ornaments, bubble water for sale. The proceeds were also donated to NParks’ Garden City Fund for their Plant-A-Tree Programme. Our company was accorded with 148 trees, which will be planted along Sengkang West Way.
Through this project, we were able to spread awareness on the importance of the 3Rs and sharing with families how to give recycled materials new meaning to life.
