Since May 2022, the K2 children were exposed to the awareness of being a responsible pet owner as well as understanding the procedures of adopting a pet in Singapore. This was indeed an eye-opener for the children, and even for the teachers too! We had the privilege to meet a guest speaker on ZOOM, Ms. Kimberly in sharing her experience of adopting 3 pets (Toro, Soya and Peri!)
The children were excited to find out more about the adopted cats, especially about their condition when they were first discovered and how the role of a responsible pet owner could make them safe and happier now!
More excitingly, the K2 children asked many stimulating questions about our K2 adopted pets - the guinea pigs which will be arriving Enfant this June after all the logistics preparations and visits to the vet to ensure that they are all healthy to be with us in school!
To further enhance learning, we connected with NParks (Animal & Veterinary Service division) who conducted a virtual field trip to the Animal Classroom. Mr Adam Teo, the host from the organization shared many interesting facts about the various animals as well as guided the audience on the procedures of adopting a pet in Singapore!
Responses such as “Oh no, they forgot the dog” and “The cat looked sad” were some words that were shared by the children. Through this project, Enfant hopes that such awareness will continue to develop the values of empathy and responsibility in our young children!
Do take a look at the checklist which the class created in relation to their learning on the above topic! Oh yes, look out for our next post too – the arrival of our adopted guinea pigs @ Enfant!
