Paya Lebar Methodist Church Covenant Kindergarten launched our Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) project entitled ‘300 Pairs of Helping Hands’ on 16 May 2017.
We started the launch by showing the SSDB video to the children. The message from Minister Tan Chuan-Jin to all the children was ‘No one can do everything but everyone can do something.’ He helped the children to realize that each pair of little hands could do something to help others and together they can work together to build a more inclusive society.
We get our children to brainstorm on what they could do to bless the community. They came up with many ideas but majority of the children like to help the elderly and they came up with the idea that they would like to go and visit the elderly homes to sing and dance to make them happy. Some children came up with the idea that they would like to bring gifts for the elderly.
In preparation for the launch, all our children pledged their commitment by putting their handprints on the paper. Together there were 300 pairs of handprints and with that the teachers made it as the backdrop for the launch and entitled our project as ‘300 Pairs of Helping Hands’.
