“Old is Gold”.
This short proverb carries meaningful elements in it. Inspired by it; we launched “Project Gold” on 20th April to embark on ECDA Start Small Dream Big initiative. We aim to inculcate the spirit of giving and caring for elderly in our children.
There were five stations set up for children and parents to engage in activities that emulate the challenges our seniors face in their daily lives.
At the “Reduced Vision” station, our children had the chance to experience the difficulties reading texts in reduced fonts or looking at blurred picture. They were given magnifying and reading glasses to aid them.
While at the “Reduced Hearing” station, children tried their best to reiterate messages they received as their hearing deafened.
“Reduced Dexterity” was a favorite station for most! In this station, both children and parents worked hard to simple chores such as buttoning shirts or picking up small items with their hands were bound with rubber bands.
Another popular station was the “Reduced Mobility” station where children had the experience of moving around with a wheelchair and walking with bean-filled socks.
