SSDB Launch Party

On the 30th April 2021, the K1 and K2 children of Little Footprints Preschool @ Woodlands 877 had their SSDB Launch Party. It started with a Powerpoint presentation where the children looked back at how Covid-19 had affected the world especially the elderlies who are much more vulnerable to the virus. They also understood more on how the pandemic has caused many to live in isolation as interaction with others were strongly not encouraged or even, not allowed.

The elderlies living in the old folks’ home were definitely not spared of this new restriction. They were not allowed visitors such as volunteers, family, and friends due to them having a higher risk of contracting and spreading the virus. This has taken a toll on their emotional and mental health as physical interactions with the outside world have been cut off.

This situation was also brought closer to their hearts as most of them had to limit their interactions with the elderlies in their own families such as grandparents, granduncles, or grandaunts. However, with the help of video calls through Whatsapp or Zoom, they can provide some form of interaction with the elderlies.

This year, for our SSDB project, the children aim to spread love and care and bridge the gap between our elderlies and others through simple but meaningful gestures despite the Covid-19 pandemic. The children began with showing their appreciation and love to their grandparents by gifting them a photo frame made of recyclable materials. They decorated their frames beautifully with various art materials and pasted a photo of their grandparents and them in it. The children then brought the frames home to be gifted to their grandparents to thank them for all their love and care.
