For this year’s SSDB project, we would like to reach out to the elderlies and inculcate teachable moments with the children like respecting older adults. Teaching and encouraging respect toward older people bring great benefits for the elderly and the children. Through this project, we hope to encourage children not only towards the elders, but towards the people around them too.
On 15th April 2021, as part of our launch party, we decided to launch it together with the elderly in Swami home. Children were engaged in a virtual interaction and made a craftwork together with the elderly. Prior to the engagement, children were introduced to this project and shared their ideas on the different activities that they wanted to do together with the elderly. Children express their excitement and opinion on the different activities that we have planned together for the elderly. Albeit the activity was done virtually, children had the opportunity to talk to the elderly and exchanged their greetings. To end off the activity, children expressed their appreciation and thanks to the elderly.
