With the objectives of inculcating values, such as respecting, loving and being kind to the elderly, the children took part in the SSDB project whereby they reached out, communicated and put up a series of activities with the elderly residents in Swami home. Taking part in these project, we hope that children would learn to respect, help out, show and concern to the residents in homes as well as others around them.
In May 2023, parents and children were invited to take part in the launch party. Many parents and children took part the launch party whereby they were introduced to the benefits, activities and process of this project. Parents and children worked together to create a commitment card in which they talked and discussed ideas and values that they hoped the children would be able to learnt from this project. The children were very excited to create their commitment card and the parents talked about the things that they could do to help out in this project. As some of the grandparents came to join in the launch party, it served as an opportunity for the children to be engaged with them as well as a chance for the children to communicate with their grandparents.
