The aim of our SSDB project is to reduce waste and practise the 3R’s - reuse, reduce and recycle. We want our little children to take part in saving our world together as one.
Prior to our launch, we decided to focus on reducing plastic waste by recycling them. We collected used plastic bottles from the children and their families. To relate to our environmental theme, those plastic bottles were then transformed into sculptures such as flowers and animals.
Those bottle sculptures were then displayed in our garden for our SSDB launch. Here we have a caterpillar, a scarecrow and two different types of flowers.
On the day of the launch, parents were invited to witness the event. Two of our K2 children emceed the event and we started off with a performance entitled “Save Our World”. The parents smiled proudly as they watched their children singing and dancing to the song.
After the performance, we had a tree planting ceremony to officially launch our project. Together with the children, our principal planted the starfruit tree right at our garden.
Following that, we had a watering session by the parents and children. They used watering cans that were made from recycled materials and decorated with SSDB stickers. The children enjoyed walking around the garden and watering the plants with their parents.
We had so much fun during our SSDB launch. We can’t wait to do more things to help save our world. Even though we are small, we have big hearts and big minds to make a difference in this world.
