We decided to embark on the topic of “Healthy Me, Healthy We!
Children will learn about the importance of eating healthy food and having regular physical activity to keep their body healthy!
“To have healthy bodies when you are older (like me and your mum or dad), it is important to be healthy when we are kids.” Children were shown a variety of pictures of healthy foods and physical activity and unhealthy foods and inactivity. When each picture was flashed I would ask them “Is this food or activity healthy or unhealthy for our bodies?”
My Healthy Plate
N2 children learned about ‘My Healthy Plate’ and they also learnt to sort food items into different food categories-fruits and vegetables, brown and whole meal bread, meat and others.
We love Fruits!
Eating fruits is very important to be healthy. Every monday N2 children are encouraged to bring their own fruits to school.
Let’s Move to the Beat 🎶
Children also learned to exercise every morning before the start of the lesson. It also build their confidence by leading the exercise in the class.
Parental Involvement!
We encourageds children to “MAKE HEALTHY SANDWICH” with their parents”.
This activity helped parents to spend quality time with their children while they are engaged in school work. For children it was fun doing the hands-on activities. They also developed their fine- motor skills, eye-hand coordination and became creative while making healthy sandwich. Back in the class they were provided opportunities to talk about their healthy snack which build thei self- esteem while sharing with their peers. 😊
