On the morning of the 31, August 2022, we went on a short, but meaningful trip to United Medicare Center, at Elizabeth Drive to deliver all the donated items to them. We got two children representatives from K2 Compassion, Tao Lee and Declan to go for the visit with the class teacher, Teacher Alethea, as well as the principal.
All the parents and stuff of Bukit Panjang Church Methodist Church Kindergarten took part in a donation drive for the residence of UMC in the month of July 2022. They donated items such as rice, biscuits and beverages. The children of K2 Compassion also helped to sort the donated items according to the various categories (see previous posting). On the day of visit, we met up with the person in charge, Miss Clemens, and her team of staff. It is a rare and precious opportunity for the children to meet them on site during the Covid. We presented Miss Clemens the donation items.
The two children representatives also presented the well wishing cards that the K2 Compassion’s children made and collaged into A3 sized-cards for the staff and residence of UMC.
As our SSDB journey come to an end, we had a mini closing ceremony class party with the children on for September 2022. To reinforce the learning for the project, the teacher led them with a fun and engaging session to listen and discuss about recycling ideas as they read the story, “Michael Recycles” at the class party.
They also had fun playing a simple game using recycled materials such as plastic bottle and cardboard box. The session was informative, fun, tense, and exciting (with the games!)
A big, thank you to all the parents who have been very supportive throughout the SSDB project since the beginning of the journey. We hope that though the journey has come to an end, the values that we have inculcated in them will not end just there.
