The children had their Career Talk by parents as well as SPF police talk to learn more about respect as well as understand the various types of jobs.
Through these talks, it allowed them to practice values such as Respect and Love, Care & Concern at school and at home too.
The children shared their knowledge on various jobs. For example ‘Pilot drives the aeroplane’, ‘Baker bakes cake and cookies’, ‘Teacher teaches in school’ and ‘Police help to catch the bad people who do not nice things’.
During the Career Talk, parents were invited to share about their jobs and what they do. We were honoured to have 3 parents to come to school and share their occupations with us. This help broaden children’s knowledge of various occupations as well as appreciate and respect everyone’s occupations . Children had a better understanding of the occupations shared namely - HR manager, Interior designer as well as Air Steward.
During the Police Talk, the SPF police were invited to shared about their occupations. They shared their roles as a police and some experience they experienced. In addition, they also did a mini role-play and got children involved by allowing the children to direct them on their next action. Through this mini-role play, children had a better understanding on what they should do in scenarios such as ‘stealing’ and ‘bullying’. Children then went to view the police car and took some photos with it. They had so much fun!
The children shared in class what they learned from the various talk. For example ‘Police teach us not to follow strangers’, ‘Designers help to design the house, to make it nice and ‘We can see the air steward in the aeroplane. They are very nice to us. Children learned how to show respect, Love, care and concern to each and every occupations too.
