This year truly presented an unprecedented challenge. With the threat of COVID-19 looming over us, there were many restrictions such as social distancing and even circuit breaker! However, we braved the storm and faced the challenges head on!
SSDB LAUNCH PARTY
The Launch party this year was so different! We did it online! The children recorded a video of themselves singing the song “You’ve got the whold world in your hands!” It was a simple and meaningful song for the children to understand that everyone, big or small, has a simple yet meaningful responsibility of taking care of the planet that we live in!
On top of the video launch, the parents also received a simple powerpoint presentation to introduce our project for this year’s SSDB. Through the powerpoint presentation, the parents were able to understand more about scope of the project and how they could contribute to it.
The Great Parents’ Challenge
The parents took on the challenge of creating an craft item using ONLY RECYCLABLE materials. Look at how our parents took on the challenge with much gusto!
Creating our crafts for our online sales!
Firstly, we learned how to roll paper magazines! Sheer determination by our K2!
Next, we placed a couple of rolled magazines and painted them to create different pieces of craft.
Next up, we used clean old clothes and cut it into strips. Then we braided it together to form colourful coasters both big and small in size!
Canvas bags? Coming right up!
Thanks to a generous sponsor for our cause, the children used fabric paints to create a “one-of-its-kind” canvas bags!

Going live on FB was such new and exciting experience for both teacher and children! After rounds of practice, we went live on 26th August 2020 to sell our crafts!
What an amazing experience!
