In light of COVID-19, we invited Mrs Cher from National Environmental Agency (NEA), who was also a parent from one of our K1 children, to contribute and support the children’s SSDB project via online. Mrs Cher delivered a talk about ‘Zero Waste’ through video recording for our children. Hence, on 7 September 2020, the video recording from Mrs Cher was viewed by our K1 and K2 children. The video covered topics such as:
• reducing consumption
• minimising wastage
• maximising recycling and composting, and
• practising the 3 Rs in our daily lives – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
In addition, the children had a Q & A session with Mrs Cher via Zoom on 9 September 2020. The children prepared a list of questions pertaining to ‘Zero Waste’ for Mrs Cher. For example, they asked:
• Why we cannot waste food?
• Why do we have to use recycle things to do things we want to make?
• Why we cannot throw away carton boxes?
• Why we cannot throw away too much plastic bags?
Furthermore, to show our appreciation, the children created a “Thank You” card specially for Mrs Cher, which was presented to her after the Zoom interview.
