_Caring for our elders is a privilege, not a burden.
To care for those who’ve cared for us is an honor for certain.
So treat them well, take care of them, show kindness and respect.
Teach your children how it’s done for when it’s your turn next_

In this current COVID-19 situation, where we have to accommodate to the new norms and go through so many changes in life, the children in our school wanted to bring some sunshine to the world. They pondered on how the elderly especially, are going through their daily lives amidst the challenges and changes in place such as the need to practice safe distancing and wearing masks. Therefore, for our project this year, the K1 and K2 children decided to brighten up the days of the elderly in Pacific Activity Centre (PAC) near our school by sending care packs to them.
The children had missed the opportunity to physically spend time with the elderly in PAC like how we practice yearly. The children has built a strong connection with the elderly at PAC as they have been collaborating on many projects together for 3 years. Their hearts went out to the elderly who were unable to spend time with them this year.
The K2 children brainstormed on the various things that they wanted to give to the elderly. The teachers and childre then came up with an excellent idea which is to provide the elderly with essentials amidst the COVID-19 situation.
Not only that, the children also wanted to include something that was handmade, to show kindness and love to the elderly. They decided to create handwritten cards for the elderly to remind the elderly to stay healthy and stay safe and, that they are not alone in this ongoing pandemic.
The K1 children wanted to cheer up the elderly. What other fun way than through singing and dancing! Together with the teachers, they came out with simple dance steps to move the beat of Corona Virus Shoo!

This project has brought about so much enlightenment to both the children and the elderly. Looking forward to another project next year! Cheers!
