We embarked on the theme “Caring for Others” for our SSDB project this year, with the objectives of developing our children to be appreciative and compassionate.
We launched our project on 27th of May, together with our Parents’ Day Event and linked the theme “Caring for Orhers (Parents)” in our activities. First, we had children from two to six years old to serve tea to show respect for their parents during the “Tea Ceremony” segment. Then, to demonstrate appreciation for all the things that parents had done for them, children massaged their parents on the shoulders, arms and back. Finally, parents were presented with personally decorated cupcakes by their child as gift before the end of the celebration.
On 25th of July, our parents, Nursery Two and Kindergarten Two children visited the elderly at the neighbourhood Day Care Centre. We were there to celebrate with them the National Day cum Racial Harmony which is also in line with our SSDB project “ Caring for Others (Elderly)”.
Children with their parent’s support, were able to showcase their talents and affection for the elderly. They also engaged the elderly in craft work “Rainbow Fly-Past Scene” and played traditional games such as Congkak, Five Stones, and Pick up Sticks. In addition, our children assisted by the parents, served tea to the elderly to show reapect and also for their contribution to our country.
Our 2019 SSDB project ended with meaningful and treasured experiences for the elderly, parents, children and teachers. In which, also demonstrated our strong collaboration with stakeholders.
