The Theme that the centre wants to embark is Kindness and especially how children can practice kindness and graciousness in public transport. Kindness is introduced by the teachers and the children read books on such character values. They also have peer sharing and discussed among themselves the various ways one can be kind and being gracious. They also come out with some small practicable ways of acts of kindness in public transport on a regular basis.
To further drive in the value of being gracious in public transport, children have much fun in singing and dancing to the LTA song.
With their brainstormed ideas, children write pledges as how one can show graciousness. These pledges form the basis of the launch of this start small dream big project.
The centre also collaborated with Kindsville and bring in the puppet show in which children further enhanced the value of being kind and gracious on the road.
On a regular basis, children will share among themselves in areas in which they have shown kindness and being gracious on public transport. This kindness is further being brought to a greater level in which we collaborated with parents to donate food items to Peacehaven (Nursing home). With these food items and goodies bags, children become the ambassadors of showing kindness to the elderly. In their own capacity, they show kindness to the elderly by staging mini performance. This brought much cheer and love in their hearts.
Last but not least, the children conclude this learning journey with their reflectional journal and parents are brought in with their sharings. Overall, it has been a fruitful service learning journey.
