Prior to our visit to St Luke’s ElderCare, our children learnt to sing and dance to some of their grandparents’ favourite songs. These dances were specially choreographed for them by a group of SOTA students. They also made paper hearts filled with words of encouragement for the elderly.
At last, it was the day of our visit. Upon reaching St Luke’s ElderCare, we presented the food hamper and pastries from Gin Thye (courtesy of Gin Thye) to the staff.
Next, our children performed their dance for the elderly. The senior audience sang together and clapped along with them. This had greatly encouraged the children and reduced their nervousness!
Our children also did a mini fashion show, showcasing the accessories that they designed using pipe cleaners together with the SOTA students.
Lastly, they presented the elderly with the paper hearts they made and waved them goodbye.
It was definitely an eye-opening and meaningful experience for our children. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to St. Luke’s Eldercare Chong Pang Centre for this valuable collaboration.
Special thanks to our neighbours, Gin Thye and students from SOTA for their generosity and effort.
