We planted 6 different seeds to grow in the garden and choose one among it to prepare as the elders’ lunch. The class has decided that the seed that will grow healthy and faster will be chosen as the vegetable lunch for the Ah Mas and Ah Gongs.
After few days and weeks, the seed grew sprouts. But easily died because the rain was very often and difficult to get sunlight for the plants.
We needed the help of our school uncle who is very good in maintaining our school garden. So we passed the small pots to uncle and have it grow to our school garden.
After a month, we visited the school garden and the healthiest vegetable that we found was the KANG KONG. We also need to make sure that the food that we will prepare for the Ah Ma and Ah Gongs are safe and non-allergic for them.
We did a discussion of what type of recipe are we going to do with the KANG KONG vegetable. The children have suggested soup, mixed with fried rice and just a stir fry topping for their rice or noodle lunch. As we did voting, the soup recipe got the most number of votes.
Then we did the label for our KANG KONG SOUP lunch for the elders.
On the following session, we harvested the Kang Kong vegetables in our school garden with the help of our school uncle. Since, we have to prioritize the safety of the elders; we passed the harvested vegetable to our school aunty cook to prepare the soup. She added some corn cubs to make it tastier!
It was a happy day for us sending the Kang Kong Soup for the Ah Ma and Ah Gongs. The children felt accomplished by doing this kind gesture to make the elders happy.
Then they sent us a message through our centre principal that they were surprised with the Kang Kong Soup Lunch prepared by the children.
