World Water Day is commemorated to celebrate water and raise awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. The theme for our centre this year is “Water for Peace.” Teachers shared with children some saving water reminders, such as using the half-flush when possible, reusing rice water or rainwater to water plants, washing vegetables in a container, turning off the shower when soaping, washing clothes on a full load, and many more. The children listened to stories of the adventures of Water Wally and Water Sally with the water problems. They were also engaged singing songs about saving water.
The children actively participated and expressed their thoughts and opinions during the event. They were taught on the ways to save water and how water is essential in all part of the ecosystem.
Each level were introduced to different activities in raising awareness of World Water Day.
The children brought home the craft they made for the day and were tasked to practice saving water at home!
