“Sharing is Caring” is our theme for this year’s SSDB project. In this project, we have the honour to collaborate with two organizations: “Grace Lodge Nursing Home” - A nursing home for elderly and “Project Dignity” - “Dignity Mama”.
The main aim of this SSDB is to help our children know the importance of giving back to the society. We have done two donation drives: Food Donation and Book Donation, which were supported by our generous parents.
On 20th June 2017, our N2 to K2 children, teachers and parents visited the Grace Lodge Nursing Home.
Our parents donated generously the dry food and packet drinks and our children helped to pack the food in the recycled bags which were specially created by them.
Children performed song and dance items for the elderly. After which, the food items were handed to the elderly personally.
It was an awesome experience for us as we made the elderly and the rest of us happy. After their performance, they gave the elderly the goodie bags.
Besides the food donation drive, the children were involved in another activity which was to donate books to “Dignity Mama” and all the 200 donated books were given to “Dignity Mama”.
These activities gave opportunities for the children, teachers and parents to do their part for the society. It was indeed a good learning experience for all of us.
