Noah’s Ark Childcare and Development Centre held our Start Small, Dream Big launch party at our centre on the 3rd of May 2017 at 1830 hours. This event was celebrated with the presence of the K1s, K2s, their parents and the staff of Noah’s Ark CDC. The event was planned to introduce the project that we will be embarking on for Start Small, Dream Big 2017 to all parents who are encouraged to be involved in together with their children.
We started the event with a small introduction of what the Start Small, Dream Big project aimed to achieve as well as a recap of what Noah’s Ark had done for Start Small, Dream Big 2016 with images of the children who were involved selling cupcakes, collecting food items to be donated as well as the block party we had to launch the said event.
After which we introduced our ambassadors for this year’s project, Captain R and Lady R, in which the R stands for Recycle. Our superhero ambassadors, Hong Kae Huat, Steven , parent of Wilson Hong(K2) and Tiffany Kok , parent of Gwen Lim(K1), were adorned in costumes that were made of recycled items, such as cardboard boxes, tissue rolls and plastic bags, that were decorated by the K1s and K2s as well the teachers.
Together with our superheroes, 2 of Noah’s ark staff members led the K1 and K2 children in reciting the “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” song as the children played musical instruments that they made out of recyclable items. The K1s played a straw flute while the K2s played castanets that were made out of cardboard and the metal caps of bottles.
After this performance, the senior principal of Noah’s Ark was called forward to introduce the project title of this year, Second Chance, by revealing a self-made rollup banner. This was followed by a brief explanation of the title and the objective of the project which was to raise awareness of the 3R (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle). The project work for this year, a Food and Fun Fiesta aiming to raise funds, was also introduced together with the where and when details. The staff member also presented the 3 recycling bins that were to be placed at the entrance of centre for reusable paper, cans and plastic to be placed into by the children. The guests were also informed that the collected items will be used by the children to prepare the game props for the fiesta. With that, parents were informed that Noah’s Ark CDC will be contributing all income earned to the president’s challenge, which will then distribute the funds appropriately. The presentation was concluded with inviting the parents to join as a support group for the project.
With the presentation concluded, the parents were called to join the children and staff, as well as our superheroes for a photograph session to commemorate the launch.
Refreshments were then given out for the parents and during which the staff were able to communicate with the parents individually to clarify any queries.
