For this year’s SSDB focus, we discussed with children on the topic of recycling and upcycling. Children had some prior knowledge about saving the earth and the 3Rs. Their learning was reinforced through classroom craft activities, show and tell, home project and parental involvement.
Community collaboration included our teacher attending a workshop on 3D printing organised by Preschool Market and an environmental skit by NEA.
This year we introduced the concept of upcycling, using 3D printing as a means. Children tried their hands at 3D printing of small keychains using recycled plastic made into filament. They were captivated by the process and excited about the end product.
Children are keen to create more of these to be used for Christmas decoration end of this year.
