Our children had an interactive session with the elderly from NTUC Nursing Home on Racial Harmony Day. They showed the elderly the different types of ethnic costumes that they wore. They asked the elderly what were some of the traditional games that they had played with. The children demonstrated how to play the “Chap Tey”, “Five Stones”, “Happy Family” card games, etc and asked the elderly if they played them similarly to how the elderly played.
We believed the elderly were much better at playing these traditional games as the children were playing them for the first time …. but with practices, they will definitely play much better. “Jaiyou, jiayou… children!”
