On Monday 29 May 2023, our little innovators and dedicated parent volunteers engaged in an exciting “adventure” as part of our SSDB program, aimed at fostering community care. With the value of $5 per care pack, we called for donations from our parents. Within 2 weeks, we managed to raise $2500, which was equivalent to 500 care packs! This meant that our SSDB Fundraiser would benefit 500 needy elderly and families!
Generously funded by our parents, the volunteers were provided with a curated list of items to choose from and purchase in specific quantities. This activity not only allowed the children to spend quality time with their parents but also encouraged teamwork in overcoming various obstacles encountered during the purchasing process.
Together, the parents and children tackled challenges such as selecting the appropriate stores to make their purchases, figuring out logistics for transporting a significant quantity of items back to the centre and ensuring they obtained the correct amount of each item. Despite the exhaustion resulting from searching, purchasing, and carrying the items, the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and the activity proved to be a resounding success. They relished the opportunity to bond with both their parents and friends.
By the end of the day, the children successfully acquired the items in the required quantities using the allocated funds. These items were then meticulously packed and distributed to the community, contributing to our collective effort to make a positive impact. Speaking of which, our Packing and Distribution stories coming up next!
