We had our first Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) project at SASCO@HongSan, a senior citizens’ home. It is a residential facility that provides a safe environment for seniors who are either destitute or facing challenging financial and family situations. In line with this year’s theme of “doing good”, families and staff of Columbia Preschool donated food and essential items to SASCO@HongSan. The children enjoyed playing Picture Bingo and wanted to teach the residents the game. The children enjoyed working on craft activities and wanted to do it together with the residents of SASCO@HongSan. We also planned a simple arts and crafts activity where the children would teach the residents how to complete it.
We also spent our Friday morning with the lovely residents by joining in their weekly Chair Yoga. We created a flower art and craft and gifted it to the residents. We ended the session with an exciting game of Picture Bingo! Everyone had a Bingo and everyone was a winner! It was a great time of bonding and having fun with the residents. We cannot wait to be back next year for our annual visit to SASCO@HongSan.
