While planning the activities to be done for the Start Small Dream Big Project, the Centre Principal, Vice Principal and Teacher-in-charge agreed to conduct ‘Healthy Eating’ lessons, as a part of it, during the June School Holiday, for N2, K1 and K2 classes.
The N2 teacher decided to conduct ‘Fruit Kebab’ activity for the children to learn and talk about the benefits of eating healthy fruits like apple, banana and grapes. After their discussion, the children prepared their own fruit kebab showing an AB pattern, and enjoyed eating them!
For the K1 class, they prepared a fruit salad using strawberries, grapes, bananas and apples. This was after they used their sense of touch to guess the fruits in the bags. After eating, they talked about what makes their fruit salad a healthy food.
Meanwhile, the K2 class prepared their ‘Yummy Sandwich.’ They used lettuce, tomato and cucumber, with bread and cheese which they cut according to their favourite shape. These indeed made their sandwich yummy and healthy!
The activities proved that children can also enjoy preparing and eating their own simple, yet healthy snacks, while taking turns and sharing with their friends!
