Engaging in a weekly ritual, the young learners regularly visited the RN garden, dedicating themselves to caring for their plants. Demonstrating an ingenious approach to sustainability, they used the
school’s discarded food waste - banana and carrot peels, along with apple cores - to make compost. Their understanding that repurposing this food waste could yield a potent fertilizer showcased their
environmentally conscious ethos, aimed at nurturing superior plant growth.
Eager to broaden their learning experience, the children research ways to make compost. Armed with newfound insights, they opted to employ a compost machine, a strategic choice to expedite the composting process while minimizing time investments.
In tandem with their plants’ growth, the children embraced an inspiring idea: extending gratitude to the parent volunteers who had supported them during their RN garden exploits. Methodically, they
developed a menu and sourced relevant recipes, diligently crafting an invitation card to beckon the volunteers to a food-tasting event.
