“Spread Kindness and Save Our Nature” Kindness starts from us. When we choose kindness, positive things happen. Burdens are shared, people feel respected, and the ones we love the most realize how much they are valued.
On 6th of April 2018, we launched our project with a pledge to spread kindness and to save nature through recycling. During the launch, we discussed and shared the importance of being kind to our families, friends, teachers and people in the community. We also watched videos about acts of kindness and saving nature through different ways of recycling.
The children participated actively during the discussions. They shared their opinions on how to be kind to the nature.
“I will throw my rubbish into the bin”. This was the answer we got from a child when he was asked on how he can show kindness in saving nature in his own little way.
“Sharing My Thoughts”: The children actively responded during the discussions on how to show kindness towards Mother Earth.
From the activity on“Pick Me Up” , children sort things that are made from plastic and paper.
The children make a pledge to do their part in spreading kindness to everyone and to show their love for mother earth by saving nature through making beautiful craft out of recycled materials.
On the same day, children wrote a slogan with teacher’s help about Spreading Kindness and Saving Nature.
Parents were involved with our project too! Parents brought recycled materials like old magazine, tissue rolls, bottles, boxes and etc. With these materials, the children and the teachers were able to make crafts. (The K1 children were making a pen holder out of tissue rolls.)
(The N2 children were making a “coin bank” using pringles can.)
(The N1 children made a pen holder using tissue rolls.)
Crafts made by the children and teachers were displayed.
Talk about Kindness during assembly time.
In addition to the activity, on 8th August 2018 we had our Campaign Drive in lieu of the Celebration of National Day. We walked around the neighbourhood with slogans on “Save Nature” and “Spread Kindness”
Indeed, Kindness is about sharing and caring!
On 13th of August 2018, we gave out checklist, “ My Family Saves Nature” for parents and children to complete at home.
For the checklist on “Our Kindness” it was done in school with teachers and the children.
Lastly, the crafts made by the children were given to their parents.
Through the activities above, children learnt how to be kind to their families, friends, teachers and people in the community. They also learnt how to save nature in their own little way. We all believe that this is just the beginning of spreading kindness all the year round. Therefore, we will continue to do good deeds and love our nature for it will benefit us and the future generation.
