Our centre embarked on the project to create objects using recycling materials, to participate in the
`Start Small Dream Big’ project organized by the Early Childhood Development Agency, Singapore. The idea was to sell these items and contribute the sale proceeds to The President’s Challenge 2018, Singapore, which in turn will be channelized to the needy sections of the society. This we felt meaningful and shared our thoughts to the parents and to our centre’s children on the Project. launching day, 12th April 2018. <ul class=”gallery” data-width=”412” data-height=”3007”> <li say that we received immense support from the parents as they share the same thought of saving the environment by recycling plastic, paper, clothes and other materials. Our centre’s children took active part in the movement; and the Kindergarten. One children inaugurated the launch event with a beautiful rendition of a song to save Mother Earth. Project Journey With numerous contributions of recyclable materials from the parents, our centre’s parent volunteers started actively preparing items using their creativity and skills. Workshop days were earmarked during June school holidays during which our kind parent volunteers landed at our centre to prepare the items despite their preoccupations and duties at home. This process took time and energy in the form of designing, painting and final creations, which proved praiseworthy. Many of the parents even created amazing pieces of art at home and contributed to this project. Our centre’s children can be seen helping the teachers and their parents in the preparation of the beautiful vases, pen holders, photo frames, fruit bowls and many more. Thus came into being all the items displayed here in this room, ready for sale! We express our gratitude to all of them, indeed a great help by the parents and the children! As a part of sharing love, kindness and compassion, our K1 children visited The Kwong Wai Shui Senior Care Centre @ Blk 114 McNair Road, this week to share some goodies and entertained the seniors by rendering a song. They interacted with the seniors that drew smile on their faces. Our centre’s parents generously contributed these goodies, thank you Parents, for your kind support! Our project was added more charm thanks to the Innovation Grant Project being undertaken by our Kindergarten Two children. The teachers, parents and the children of K2 classes contributed many more items and plants to add to the Start Small Dream Big Project . Indeed, what a great way to contribute our best to a great cause! Then came the Big Day The items so prepared using the creative abilities of parents-children-teachers were put on sale on Friday, 27 July 2018. The efforts of home-school partnership paid rich dividends as the items were sold like hot cakes. The centre is proud to share that we could amass a good sum to donate to the President’s Challenge 2018.
