For our centre’s SSDB project this year, we wish to go intergenerational. The children often see the friendly ‘aunties’ and ‘uncles’ passing by the centre window. They would wave, greet and smile happily at one another. These friendly beings are none other than the seniors in our neighbourhood. It was disheartening to watch the good vibes stop there. Thus, from this project, we hope that the children can connect with a group of elderlies where they can learn more about the aging community, be aware of some difficulties they may face and have some proper interaction with them. Through this, we also hope that the children will be able to appreciate their grandparents and the elderly folks around them.
For the launch party, the children and their parents were involved in designing their ‘Kindness Flowerpot’ where it is filled with sweet messages to the elderlies. Our centre has also reached out to community partners such as Agency for Integrated Care, Singapore Kindness Movement, and Community Chest. We will be uploading more updates regarding the collaboration soon.
