This year, the centre launched our project, Think… Plant… Save… on 27 June through virtual celebration via Zoom with the children and their parents.
We introduced SSDB, its objectives and the upcoming activities that the children will be embarked in. We engaged the children and parents on Menti.com and got them to share some ways on how we can take care of plants.
One of the highlights of the celebration was the “Terrarium Making”. Each participant received a bag of items containing soil, pebbles, charcoal, figurines and plants. The children and parents were divided into Breakout Rooms, where teachers guided them to make the Terrarium.
When we get back to the main room, we shared a music video that was produced by the children and teachers. The song entitled “ I Am But A Small Child with A Big Dream” was adapted from Lea Salonga- I Am But A Small Voice and recreated by one of our English teachers. In this song, children were able to understand how plants and trees are important to our daily lives.
The school is looking forward to more upcoming activities in the next few months.
