PCF Sparkletots Preschool @ Changi Simei Blk 131 (KN) embarked on our SSDB Journey with a community project known as ‘Care 4 the Less Fortunate’. We aimed to instill the values in our children with Care and Compassion, whilst fostering a Community spirit and encouraging Continuity.
We collaborated with the Singapore Police Force in a donation drive called Share-A-Meal.
Share-A-Meal was an initiative to aid children and their families when the breadwinner is no longer able to provide due to death or permanent injury .We aimed to support children from these families to tide through the tough times.
Donations from students, parents, and teachers in Share-A-Meal tins were presented to the Singapore Police Force, allowing the children to learn the spirit of giving.
We also collaborated with Metta School in their Metta Charity Carnival cum Food Fiesta event. Supportive parents purchased many tickets to buy delicious food at the fiesta, with some of the more enthusiastic ones even participating in the Charity Walk with their children together with Member of Parliament for East Coast GRC , Ms Jessica Tan Soon Neo.
Lastly, our preschoolers and parents participated for the Launch of 3M Step-Up Challenge @ South East Community Development Council 2017 held at the OCBC Arena.
The challenge was a community project to promote humility, reciprocity, and collaborative teamwork. Using a record-breaking 620,000 steps accumulated by all the participants including some primary schools, 3M Singapore donated 248 household hampers to needy families in South East Singapore .
Over the course of SSDB 2017, I believe that our students managed to learn a thing or two about responsibility, empathy, and compassion. It has been a meaningful journey for both parents and students .
