The K1s and K2s of PCF Sparkletots Bukit Batok 293 embarked on a journey of learning about food waste. We have partnered with a local organisation, Food from the Heart, who aims to allevuate hunger and reduce food waste in Singapore.
During our launch party, the children learnt more about food waste and what Food from the Heart does. Moreover, they pondered on how food waste would be in Singapore in the future.
The children brought fruits from home and shared with their peers. Using a stick, they made fruit kebabs! They wondered what they can do with the leftover fruits…. They used tupperware/container to share their leftover fruit kebabs with their family.
Our donation drive was overwhelming! We received so many donations. The children worked hard in sorting the items by three categories: canned food, powdered drinks and rice/noodles.
After much preparation, it was time to bring our donations to the Food from the Heart warehouse. This was an exciting opportunity to us to see how the volunteers prepare and pack the donations. We also discovered the various beneficiaries!
Join us in reducing Food Waste in Singapore! We are thankful to Food from the Heart for collaborating with us.
