On 3rd August 2023, we visited SASCO @ Hong Kah North which supports the frail elderly in the community. With this visit, we would like to create an opportunity for children to show care, respect and empathy to the elderly which was in line with our SSDB project name, Little Hearts Care. Children will also be exposed to the difficulty that is faced by some of the elderly and have a better understanding towards them.
To start off the visit, children sang some National Day Songs. Flags were handed out to the elderly and they were happy to sing along with the children.
After that, children played games related to National Day with the elderly. They had fun. Children and the elderly helped each other along the way.
The next segment was another performance by the children. It was a song called, ‘Xie Xie Ni, Listen to Me Thank You.’ When the song was over, children handed out origami flowers that they made themselves. The elderly were more than happy to receive these flowers. We did not forget the workers there as children presented them with the flowers as well.
Then, our principal handed out a hamper to the Centre Manager. This hamper was a representative of the food items which consisted of Milo, coffee and biscuits that were donated by parents. Before we bid goodbye, a picture was taken. Thank you SASCO @ Hong Kah North for having us there!
